Mini Face Lift...Mini Lift...Weekend Face Lift Indications:

The Mini Face Lift/Weekend Face Lift Procedure is performed, as an outpatient here at The Beverly Hills International Center for Aesthetic Surgery.  Dr. Palmer developed his version of the Mini Facelift/Weekend Facelift Procedure as a modification of his revolutionary trademarked Facial Contour® Facelift-for people in the entertainment industry that can’t have signs of aging and were seeking to reverse the signs of aging at the earliest possible point.  Similar to the Facial Contour® Facelift, the "Custom Minimized" Mini Facelift/Weekend Facelift strives to contour the face, thereby creating a more natural and youthful appearance.  The procedure is completely customized for the specific aesthetic needs of each individual.  This has become a very popular procedure for people 30 and older that are looking to maintain their youthful beauty.

There are many versions of the Mini Facelift/Weekend Facelift for you to choose from.  Here’s a list of some versions of Mini Lifts and what they are designed to accomplish.  Be sure that you understand which version of the Mini Facelift/Weekend Facelift you are getting and be sure that it is able to give you the beauty boost that you are seeking.

• Remote incision Mini Facelifts:  In these types of Mini Lifts, the incisions are typically placed in the temporal scalp.  From this incisions site the tissues of the face are dissected and lifted upward.  This may include placement of sutures and or hooks that engage the deeper tissues and promote prolonged tissue lifting.  The excess scalp is then removed and the incision closed.  In the illustration below, the solid line represents the scalp incision and the arrows indicate the direction of tissue elevation.  There is no ability to remove excess skin with this type of Mini Facelift and bunching, of the skin, may occur in front of the ear if this Mini Lift Procedure is performed on someone with advanced signs of aging and excess loose skin.  This type of Mini Facelift usually works best for those with early signs of aging and minimal loose facial skin.
• Mini Facelift with incisions hidden around the ear:  These types of Mini Face Lifts/Weekend Face Lift Procedures include an incision that follows the contours of the front of the ear, go above the ear into the scalp and around the ear lobe.  The middle picture (illustartion below) displays a typical Facelift incision.  The arrow shows the limited extent of the Mini Face Lift/Weekend Face Lift incisions as compared to the Full Face Lift Incisions.  The Mini Face Lift incisions do not extend as high into the temporal hairline, nor do they extend along the entire back of the ear or into the posterior scalp.  Because the incions are not as long, as a full Face Lift, the scars are not as long.  The solid lines compare the limited area of tissue dissection of both the skin and the underlying SMAS muscle layer of the Mini Face Lift/Weekend Face Lift versus the full Facelift.  The limited dissection is what allows a rapid recovery with the Mini Face Lift Procedure.

This can be explained in the following manner.  When looking at the center illustration above, the dissection area of the Mini Face Lift/Weekend Face Lift Procedure lies within the solid lines.  It clearly is a fraction of the area that is dissected in a full Face Lift Surgery.  The amount of swelling and bruising is directly proportional to the area of dissection (how large was the area dissected) and the amount of dissected or disturbed tissue that remains at the conclusion of the surgery.  Bare with me, for a moment and I promise that this will make sense.  When doing a Mini Face Lift, or any type of surgery tissue must be dissected.  This causes a disruption in the tissue.  If at the conclusion of the surgery, some of the tissues are pulled up and trimmed this then logically reduces the final area of disrupted tissue.  In a Mini Face lift/Weekend Face Lift designed by Dr. Francis Palmer, the area of disrupted tissue is brought back just about to the edge of the incision.  This leaves almost no disrupted tissue that can create swelling and bruising after the Mini Face Lift has been completed.  It is the mechanics of creating Dr. Palmer’s Mini Face Lift/Weekend Face Lift, in this manner, that is responsible for the rapid healing after the Mini Lift Procedure.  The Mini Face Lift/Weekend Face Lift Procedure, performed by Dr. Francis Palmer, takes about 1 hour to perform and may be done awake with a Novacaine-like anesthesia, using Intravenous sedation or with a general anesthetic depending on the individual patient and his/her desires.  Upon completion of the Mini Lift, a light gauge wrap type dressing is applied around the ears.  This is removed the following day and the incisions are cleaned with hydrogen peroxide.  No further dressings are required and the patient can usually hide any minimal bruising with light makeup.  Patients may apply ice therapy, to the face, for several days following the Mini Face Lift/Weekend Face Lift but typically return to work within a few days.  Strenuous physical activity is best avoided for 2 weeks after the Mini Lift Surgery.  Sutures are removed between 7-10 days after the Mini Face Lift. 

The Mini Face Lift/Weekend Face Lift can be augmented by using Threads for added tissue elevation and lift.  Read about the Thread Lift which has no obvious incisions.  Think of this as an option when someone is not willing to have even the limited incisions used in a Mini Face Lift/Weekend Face Lift.

 Limited surgery means limited time off for recovery.  In most cases, the patient may return to normal (non-physically challenging) activity in as little as several days.
