Every so often, Celebrity Rhinoplasty (Nose Jobs) make the news, so I thought I’d talk a bit about Rhinoplasty or Nasal Surgery.+�-� Was in the OR today doing a revision Rhinoplasty.+�-� I did the procedure Open, which means I place an inverted V shaped incision in the front of the nose half way between the base and the tip.+�-� I elevate the skin off the entire nose and get a great view of what’s going on.+�-� When I do a+�-�revision nose, I know to expect anything because I wasn’t present during the first opeartion and don’t know exactly what was done…..no, the opertative report rarely clarifies things to any great detail.+�-� You have to open things up and take a look.+�-� So I did just that.

+�-�I rasped the nasal bones, straightened bent and crooked cartilage, removed excess scar tissue and completely reshaped the nasal tip….basically, I used almost every thing in my surgical bag of tricks.+�-� I call these types of difficult Rhinoplasties…..”Kitchen Sink Rhinoplasties….because I throw everything at them, in order to make them look good, including the Kiitchen Sink.” A couple of hours of intense concentration, several dozen well placed sutures the size of your hair and I had a great looking nose for the nice lady.+�-� In my opinion, noses are technically the most difficult Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Procedure…a Revision Rhinoplasty is frequently a quantum level more difficult than a fist-time one.+�-� These are really tough surgeries but incredibly rewarding when you get them to look good at the end of the case.+�-� You stand back as you put on the wafered plastic cast and say to yourself….wow that was tough, but it looks really good…she’s going to love it!+�-� That’s my job:+�-� Moments of intense stress, responsibility, concentration…..then great joy and satisfaction.+�-� One of the greatest feelings that I have, in life, is right after a surgery that went really well…it’s hard to describe.+�-� I guess I feel a sense of satisfaction…of a job well done.+�-� It’s really great!

+�-�Got another heart wrentching letter from a woman asking for help.+�-� Between e-mails and letters, I’d say we get a dozen to two dozen a month.+�-� I wish that I could help them all but obviously, I can’t.+�-� I pray and ask God for guidance on helping those that I can.+�-� I’ll keep my eye out for a TV show looking for a patient for me to perform surgery.

+�-�Ashton has a meeting with another record producer next week…..should be interseting.+�-� Aargh, still waiting to hear back from colleges where+�-�she has submitted applications.+�-� She’s been accepted already but her top 2 choices have not yet responded.+�-� Say a prayer for her….and us.
