Ok, in part three of Rhinoplasty 101, I’d like to talk about realistic expectations. Now that you know a little bit about facial aesthetics from my “Palmer Beauty Principles” ( http://www.drfpalmer.com/palmer-beauty-principles.html ) and about Rhinoplasty Surgery ( http://www.drfpalmer.com/Rhinoplasty.html ) it’s time to talk about the types of things that you can and can’t expect from your Rhinoplasty Procedure.
Rhinoplasty has the ability, in general, to improve the appearance of your nose two points. That means if your nose is rated from 1 to 10 (10 being a perfect nose) and your’s is a 7 before the Rhinoplasty…the best that you can expect is to improve 2 additional points or a 9 out of 10. This is a general rule but is typically true. This also assummes the best case scenario: best trained, aesthetically gifted and experienced Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon who is a Rhinoplasty Surgeon and that the case turns out as well as possible.
Rhinoplasty will not…..make you gorgeous…unless you already are and the nose is distracting attention away from your other features. This was the case with Ashlee Simpson’s Rhinoplasty ( nose job ). Ashlee Simpson’s transformation is dramatic because her cheeks, lips and eyes were not noticed for the length and distracting features of her nose. The moment that a Closed Rhinioplasty was used to remove the nose as a distraction…Ashlee Simpson’s true beauty was revealed. A gifted, experienced Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon who has experience performing Rhinoplasties (nose jobs) would have been able to see the transformation in his/her long before Ashlee Simpson had her Closed Rhinoplasty Surgery (nose job). But if Ashlee Simpson didn’t have that hidden beauty before the Rhinoplasty (nose job) it sure wouldn’thave been there after the Closed Rhinoplasty. Noses do not make people beautiful in and of themselves….rather a sleek and refined nose allows the cheeks, eyes and lips to reveal your true beauty.
If you are interested in seeing whether or not a Rhinoplasty could reveal the hidden beauty in you…I urge you to contact the most experienced Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon that you can find and have a consultation. My office in Beverly Hills allows patients to e-mail us jpeg’s of their nose for comments at drfpalmer1@aol.com and even offers internet and phone consultations for a more in depth analysis at 310-652-9583. In person consults, of course, are always encouraged as nothing takes the place of a face to face consultation with your surgeon if you can arrange the travel and don’t mind the expense of flying/driving for the consult.
Have a happy and safe 4th of July!
Dr. Francis R Palmer, III
