Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery “Tip of the Day” from Dr. Francis R Palmer, III Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon.

+-As I sit her after a busy week of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeies on a truly international clientele that included: Revision Open Rhinoplasty, Cheek Augmentation, Celebrity Facelift, Geometric Necklift,+-Blepharoplasty,+-Lip Augmentation with Alloderm, Body Liposuction and a Short-Brachioplasty (arm lift) along with a smattering of Radiesse Injections to augment the shape of the Cheeks, Nasolabial folds and Marrionette lines…Botox Injections to soften lines around the mouth and forehead and Restylane (actually Robyn RN/MSN+-does that) to fill out the lips and nasolabial folds…it struck me that no matter where you are from…Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Southern California, Orange County, New York, Miami, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Europe, The Middle East or any location inbetween….people all want similar things:

1. They want to look their best…which is the same as saying they want to look good!

2. They want a reliable source of accurate information on how they can do #1….how they can look good.

Whether you find this source of information and yes, services like Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Procedures, skincare, treatments…whatever: close to home, on the internet or in a distant city like the people who travel to see us in Beverly Hills, the information you seek and the results you want are out there.+- However, you must be aware of a few pitfalls, to avoid,+-during+-your search.

1. Never use the price of a procedure like Rhinoplasty or a Facelift, or a treatment like Radiesse or Botox Injections as the determining factor of who and where you have things done.+- The moment you forget that the most important aspect of whatever you’re considering is : “will this make me more attractive…and does this Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon have the experience and ability…that’s the very instant you place your appearrance in jepordy.+-

+-We see it all the time when people send us e-mails and+-come for consultation.+- Often, they paid a price that was lower than what top Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons with experience charge in Beverly Hills, New York and Miami….they went with a cheap price and now have to have another surgery at an increased cost.

2. Never, ever forget that whatever you do: Botox, Restylane, Radiesse, Facelift, Rhinoplasty, Cheek Implants, Breast Implants, eyelift…whatever: the reason you’re having the plastic surgery treatment or procedure is to make you more attractive.+- If it doesn’t seem like this will be the outcome of the treatment or procedure, Don’t Have It..no matter the cost.

Happy Mother’s Day

+-Rhinoplasty and Revison Rhinoplasty:

Sometimes during a Rhinoplasty or a Revision Rhinoplasty it may be necessary to use a graft to add support and/or shape to the nasal tip or nasal bridge.+- What are the choices and the best materials to use where?+- Are all materials the same?

No, all materials are definetly not the same.+- Some materials used as grafts tend to have many more complications and problems years after the Rhinoplasty or Revision Rhinoplasty.+- The following are my choices for graft materials with over 20 years experience performing Rhinoplasty and revision Rhinoplasty.

1. Nasal Tip:+- This area of the nose needs a soft material that will not absorb , dissolve or thin the overlying skin.

my choice: the curved section of the ear cartilage called conchal cartilage makes an excellent graft to the nasal tip…best of all it’s your own tissue.

my advice to avoid:+- L-shaped silicone implant where 100% erode through the skin within 15 years.+- Man made substances like Gortex and medpore that may become infected years later for no apparaent reason.

2. The nasal bridge:+- The graft should be strong, straight+-and not absorb.

+-My choice: Silicone dorsal grafts that come in different sizes and thickness…has a very real shape that’s similar to a normal aesthetic nasal bridge.+- No L-shapes, just the straight dorsal segments.

To avoid:+- Conchal ear cartilage tends to dissolve unevely when used on the nasal bridge.+- The same can be said about bone, rib cartilage and banked (irratiated cartilage).+- Uneven absorptiuon means deformity and this should be avoided as this will most likely result in a Revision Rhinoplasty to replace this graft with one that is more stable.+- Septal cartilage works well here but rarely can a piece be found that’s long enough to cover the entire distance of the nasal bridge.

+-Choosing the correct graft is a major part of proper pre op Rhinoplasty or revuision Rhinoplasty planning.+- The wrong graft or implant may mean a revsion Rhinoplasty in the future…so this is worth learning.

“What’s wrong with my Face?”

As we all age, there comes a moment in time that each and every one of us looks in the mirror and asks ourself+- “what happened to me….I’m not loving my appearrance”.+- In essence what you’re asking yourself, is “what’s wrong with my face?”.

The first step to improving how you look is an honest analysis of your face.

Here’s a crash course in analyzing your face in the privacy of your own mirror:

1. Start with the Cheeks.+- Are your cheeks full or does your face have deep folds and extra tissue going from the nose to the corners of the mouth (Nasolabial Folds) or from the corners of the mouth to the jawline (Jowls)?+- If so, your cheeks may be flat.+- The solutions are:

a. Cheek Augmentation with Cheek Implants

b. Cheek Augmentation using radiesse Injections that last about 18 months on average.

c. Microliposuction of the Nasolabial folds and/or Jowls to decrease the fat and if you’re 40 or older, our “Celebrity Lift” to tighten the muscle layer and remove excess skin.+-

2. Next how do your eyes look?+- Is there excess fatty bulges, loose skin around the eyelids?+- This give the eyes and face a tired and aged appearance.+-

Solution: Blepharoplasty to remove excess skin and/or fat from the eyelids.

3. Are your lips full?+- If they are thin, the face can appear stern or angry.

Solution: Alloderm Lip Augmentation.

4. The nose:+- Look away from the mirror and then quick look back at your face.+- Be honest to yourself…do you see your nose as the first thing when you look at your face?+- If so, a Rhinoplasty may be in order to obtain a more sleek, natural and unobserved nose.+- This allows the focus of the face to be the Cheeks, followed by the eyes, followed by the lips.+- I call this the “One-Two-Three Beauty Punch”.

Solution: Rhinoplasty or Revision Rhinoplasty.

There:+- I just saved you my $150-$500 consultation fee where I would use by knowledge and expertise to analyze your face.

Oh by the way….I wanted to get something off my chest.+- A person e-mailed my staff upset that there are typos on my blog or website and indicated that this is a poor reflection on my ability as a Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon.+-

To that I say…Bull!+- If you’ve read my blog, you know me.+- I’m very busy and I try to get you, my readers accurate and useful information on Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery procedures that are of interest to you all.+- I proof read as much as I can but hey….I have a million other things to do as well like surgery, consults, business meetings, TV meetings, media interviews, writing books, etc.+- etc.+- etc.+- I know it’s not an excuse…. it is what it is.+- Just goes to show, you can’t please everyone.
