Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery “Tip of the Day” from Dr. Francis R Palmer, III Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon.

+-As I sit her after a busy week of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeies on a truly international clientele that included: Revision Open Rhinoplasty, Cheek Augmentation, Celebrity Facelift, Geometric Necklift,+-Blepharoplasty,+-Lip Augmentation with Alloderm, Body Liposuction and a Short-Brachioplasty (arm lift) along with a smattering of Radiesse Injections to augment the shape of the Cheeks, Nasolabial folds and Marrionette lines…Botox Injections to soften lines around the mouth and forehead and Restylane (actually Robyn RN/MSN+-does that) to fill out the lips and nasolabial folds…it struck me that no matter where you are from…Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Southern California, Orange County, New York, Miami, Chicago, Houston, Dallas, Europe, The Middle East or any location inbetween….people all want similar things:

1. They want to look their best…which is the same as saying they want to look good!

2. They want a reliable source of accurate information on how they can do #1….how they can look good.

Whether you find this source of information and yes, services like Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Procedures, skincare, treatments…whatever: close to home, on the internet or in a distant city like the people who travel to see us in Beverly Hills, the information you seek and the results you want are out there.+- However, you must be aware of a few pitfalls, to avoid,+-during+-your search.

1. Never use the price of a procedure like Rhinoplasty or a Facelift, or a treatment like Radiesse or Botox Injections as the determining factor of who and where you have things done.+- The moment you forget that the most important aspect of whatever you’re considering is : “will this make me more attractive…and does this Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon have the experience and ability…that’s the very instant you place your appearrance in jepordy.+-

+-We see it all the time when people send us e-mails and+-come for consultation.+- Often, they paid a price that was lower than what top Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons with experience charge in Beverly Hills, New York and Miami….they went with a cheap price and now have to have another surgery at an increased cost.

2. Never, ever forget that whatever you do: Botox, Restylane, Radiesse, Facelift, Rhinoplasty, Cheek Implants, Breast Implants, eyelift…whatever: the reason you’re having the plastic surgery treatment or procedure is to make you more attractive.+- If it doesn’t seem like this will be the outcome of the treatment or procedure, Don’t Have It..no matter the cost.

Happy Mother’s Day

Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery “Beauty Tip of the Day” from Dr. Francis R. Palmer, Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon.” Beware the free consultation…you may be getting more than you bargained”.+- So, you want to improve your appearance.+- Ok, so you’ve decide that Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery or some non-invasive treatment like Botox, Restylane, Radiesse or IPL might be the ticket…so you seek some consultations with Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons in Beverly Hills and elsewhere.+- Fair enough, so far.

+-Now during your research, which includes asking friends, family and surfing the web…you book some consults…some are free and others are not.+- Hum, why on earth would that be?+- Let’s take a look and logically assess the situation.+- Now while I understand your desire to get something for nothing…you must admit… that scenario rarely works out well.+- There’s always a catch.+- Well guess what, free Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery consults are no different and here’s why.

1. Beverly Hills has high rent, high overhead and the Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon’s staff make real salaries.+- Does that surprise anyone?+- Good, let’s continue.

2. Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons make money from performing Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery procedures and or treatments.+- Once again, this shouldn’t surprise anyone.

3. If the Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon does not charge you for his/her time to consult with you…they are losing money for giving you their time.

4. No business can sustain itself by losing money…therefore, they MUST sell you something while you are there.+- Am I getting through yet?+- What could they possibly try and sell you?+- Plastic Surgery, Non INvasive Procedures, products and related services that you may not need, or want.

5. Where do you really believe that you have a better chance of getting an honest unbiased opinion about what Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Procedures and/or treatments are best for you….with a Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon who charges for his time or one that uses it as a loss leader hoping to sell you soemthing, anything once you are in their office.+- Don’t believe that high pressure sales can’t exist in the Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery business?+- Of course it can and does.

My advice to you as a consumer of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery:

1. Buyer Beware…do your research about+-the aesthetics of beauty.+- Read my “Palmer Beauty Principles” and my “What’s Your Number” concept and learn what you need to know about how you could become more youthful and/or attractive.

2. Be realistic about paying for Plastic Surgery Consults.+- The very best Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons, and you should only be interested in them doing your surgery or treatment…after all you only have 1 face and body, in Beverly Hills and elsewhere do indeeed charge hundreds of dollars for a thorough evaluation of you an examination and specific recommendations.+- If you want to shop surgeons…pony up the bucks to do it the right way or visit fewer surgeons.

3. Be even more realisitic about the costs of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery or treatments.+- The cheap are victims+-of all sorts of scams from fake Botox (killed people in California and Florida) to having sub-par surgery in wierd places under less than ideal circumstances (surgery in apartments, hotels)…by less than the most experienced Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons…many times with fatal or+-disaterous results.+- Experienced Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons do not steeply discount their surgeries or services and you wishing, hoping+-and searching for a miracle bargain price won’t make it so.+- Get real…pay a good price for your procedure/surgery or save up for it until you can.+- You will be much better off…in the long run.

Rhinoplasty Beverly Hills Style by Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon, Dr. Francis R Palmer, III:

When I mention Beverly Hills Style as part of+-a Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Procedure…what does that mean?+- Well, to me Beverly Hills represents the pinacle of expertise, training and sophistication in Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery.+- I had a practice in London for 5 years as well as my practice in Beverly Hills and I saw the difference in skill, training and expertise between Us (Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons) versus our European counterparts.+- In my opinion, Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons stand head and shoulders above the rest of the world….period!+- Why?+- Because we deal with the entertainment industry day in and day out and the demands to keep those beautiful stars looking their best is something we take very seriously.

So, if you’re seeking to improve your appearance, be sure to seek out the best.+- Especially if you want to refine the shape of your nose with a Rhinoplasty Surgery.+-+-My “Palmer Beauty Principles” define beauty and assert that the nose should be sleek and there by unobserved.+- In order to have a sleek, unobserved nose the Rhinoplasty must be done in a natural manner devoid of telltale signs of surgery…such as a pinched tip, asymmetric tip, wide bridge or over-rotated tip (ski sloped nose) that scream out that you’ve had a Rhinoplasty.

Surgery Death Exposes Dangerous Obsession
By MELISSA TRUJILLO, AP
+-

FRAMINGHAM, Mass. (Sept. 7) – Fabiola DePaula’s quest for beauty took her to a condominium basement, where authorities say she paid an unlicensed doctor $3,300 for a nose job and liposuction performed on a massage table.

But something went terribly wrong and the 24-year-old nanny died, exposing what investigators say was an underground cosmetic-surgery network used by immigrants from Brazil – a country whose women are world-famous for their beauty and their willingness to go under the knife to achieve it.

“Somebody has to speak out. Go to the Brazilians, open their minds and let them know it’s dangerous,” said Jacque Foster, a friend of DePaula’s. “This is totally beyond unsafe. You have to think about what you are doing.”

Authorities believe a Brazilian doctor, Luiz Carlos Ribeiro, performed liposuction, nose jobs and Botox injections for three years in the Framingham area, mostly for the town’s large Brazilian immigrant population and mostly for cash.

Police say DePaula, a native of Brazil, went to Ribeiro for a nose job on July 27, then died three days later after the liposuction. According to the autopsy report, DePaula died of complications from the liposuction, including pulmonary fat emboli, or fat particles in the lungs.

District Attorney Martha Coakley said doctors in a hospital could have dealt with the complication, which she called a rare but known risk.

Ribeiro and his wife, Ana Maria Miranda Ribeiro, both 49, were arrested July 31 and charged with manslaughter, unauthorized practice of medicine and drug counts. The couple pleaded not guilty and remain in jail. Their attorneys declined to comment. The owner of the condo was also arrested.

The district attorney said Ribeiro was licensed to practice medicine in Brazil, but his specialty was not cosmetic surgery. Officials have not identified his specialty.

Eliana Miranda, a Brazilian immigrant who owns a clothing store in Framingham, about 20 miles west of Boston, said she doubts Ribeiro had trouble finding customers.+-

Cosmetic surgery is “big here too, but in Brazil, it’s much bigger,” she said. “We suffer all day in high heels, just to look good. Americans think about what is comfortable. Even the underwear is more underwear.”

Youth and beauty are positively worshipped in Brazilian culture, exemplified by the scantily clad women celebrating Carnival or sunbathing on the beach (a spectacle immortalized in the sultry song “The Girl From Ipanema.”) The best-known plastic surgeons in the country are celebrities.

Other states with large immigrant populations have also seen cases in which people fell victim to others practicing medicine or dentistry illegally. In Miami, for example, which has a large population of Brazilians and others from Latin American countries that put a heavy emphasis on female beauty, many of these cases involve cosmetic procedures.

Some Brazilians around Framingham said it is common for Brazilians to travel back to their native country for all types of operations – not just cosmetic surgery – that often cost thousands of dollars less than in the United States.

Maxine L. Margolis, a professor of anthropology at the University of Florida who specializes in Brazilian immigrants, said unlicensed doctors offering cheap procedures here could be particularly appealing to illegal immigrants, who do not want to risk being unable to return to the United States. (The district attorney’s office would not comment on DePaula’s immigration status.)

In the Framingham case, at least two other women have come forward, saying they were patients of the doctor. Authorities are using local Brazilian media and a hot line to find other potential victims and explain the risks involved in illegal surgery. Massachusetts is estimated to have more than 30,000 people of Brazilian descent, most of them in the Boston area.

“There should be a lesson learned from the death of this young woman,” the district attorney. “People think this is an extension of getting my nails done, getting my hair done.”

Foster said the sad thing is that her friend had no need for cosmetic surgery: “She was absolutely gorgeous, not only on the outside but on the inside.”
