+-The Cheeks can be augmented and their shape imroved aesthetically by using Cheek Implants ( I prefer soft silastic ones…no screws or fixation sutures) or with various materials that are injected into the skin over the cheek area.+- Of the latter, I like+-Radiesse or+-Perlane+-because I have found it to highly predictable and effective in allowing me to shape the cheeks.+- I also use Radiesse to shape the chin and jawline.+-

A few days ago a patient came from Dubai and mentioned that I was referred in Dubai as “the guy who does Radiesse to shape the face”.+- I found this flattering that I would be so regarded in a city that I have never visited.+- I felt compelled to mention that I like Radiesse because it works in my hands and accomplishes what I want to d aesthetically on the face…and that’s to make a male face more angular and ruggedly handsome while making a female face soft, feminine and youthful in appearance.+- I have no financial stock in the company that makes or markets radiesse…although they should at the very least thank mean for all the free advertising I do for their product…including an appearance on ABC’s “The View” where I had a Radiesse patient as well as my new “Celebrity Face Lift”….but that’s another story.+- Rdaiesse works and in my opinion works quite well but so does perlane and Botox and restylane and i endorse all of those products as well.

In my almost 20 years of performing plastic and cosmetic surgery here in beverly Hills and London, I have always strived to get the very best and most out of every plastic surgeical procedure: Face Lift, Breast Augmentation, Rhinoplasty, Blepharoplasty, Tummy Tuck, Lip Augmentation, Liposuction, Cheek Augmentation, Chin Implant Surgery, Browlift, Otoplasty…whatever instead of accepting whatever limitations those procedures had to offer.+- The same can be said about the soft tissue fillers like radiesse, perlane and Even Botox.+- I embrace the ones that I believe work and I don’t use or endorse the ones I think don’t work or have unwanted complications….silicone, artecol just to mention two.+- That’s how all top, best, plastic and cosmetic surgeons should feel whether you are a celebrity having plastic surgery or just one of we mere mortals.+- This is my opinion and other plastic and cosmetic surgeons may have another opinion.

I recently had Dr. Palmer do some work on my nose and I couldn’t have been happier about the result. I have never really been happy with my nose. There were several things that bothered me when+-I would see pictures of myself or as an actor on film. But I was too embarrassed with the idea of doing something about it and also didn’t want to drastically change my appearance. +-My girlfriend who is the only person I told about it said look it’s your face if you do this you should find the best. We live in Los Angeles I am sure in Beverly hills are some of the best Plastic Surgeons in the world, you should find one. Its your face and you should get the best even if it costs a little more. After doing research I came across Dr. Palmer.+-I liked what he said about doing less and making smaller changes+G-and sculpting to your face. I met with him and he said he wouldn’t shave the bone and rather just would tighten and raise the tip. It would make my nose a little straighter and have a less round and hooked tip. And also would be a less intensive procedure than the other doctor recommended. He said it would do what I wanted but would be subtle and he bet me that no one but me would notice. he said that people would just notice that I looked better. I was nervous but he was so right. In my case I had no scars a small bandage which i got off+-four days later. No one has noticed but like he said I have gotten many compliments about how good I look. Most importantly I have noticed and am so happy with the result.+-I still look like me but just better. The things that have always bothered me were lessened. I really couldn’t recommend Dr. Palmer more. I looked for the best and feel like+-I found him.+-And beyond just the result, the process couldn’t have been better. Robyn and Andi in the office have been awesome from scheduling and being available and answering all my annoying questions before and after. I am greatly and truly thankful to Dr. Palmer and his staff for their work and the results. I feel better about myself. The work which is so natural and subtle that no one but my girlfriend and I even know that I did this+G-which is just what+-I wanted. +-Thank you.+-

Beverly Hills, more so that Jio De Jeneiro or any other location in the world,+-has maintained the title of “Plastic Surgery Capital” and is the pinancle of aesthetic medicine.+- Aesthetic medicine I define as the business of making people more attractive and business is booming in this multi-billion dollar industry.+- In the US alone, last year, over 30 million aesthetic procedures (including plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery and non-invasive procedures) were performed by plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgeons,+-aesthetic dermatologists and opthalmologists across the United States.+- In all cases, Beverly Hills, in my humle opinion leads the way because we are also the celebrity and entertainment capital of the world.+- Our celebrities and stars look gorgeous and it’s+-no secret that more than a few have had some plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery or aesthetic medical procedures to enhance their appearance.+-

+-But the secret is now out to the rest of the world and coupled with the weak dollar against other world currencies, we are seeing a massive influx of plastic surgery, cosmetic surgery and aesthetic medical procedures from out of country as part of increased tourism.+- Our practice has always been international with my practice in London for over 7 years while here in Beverly Hills but in the past 2 years the number of out of country clients from Japan, Singapore, China, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Taiwan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Russia are all on the upswing as they take advantage of the expertise of Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery and the exchange rate with the dollar.+- In my opinion, Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons are the best trained plastic surgeons in the world, bar none…so if you can come to beverly Hills for the best plastic and cosmetic surgery and you can get it for less because of a weak dollar…it’s a no brainer.+- Eyelifts, facelifts, Neck lifts, Rhinoplasty, Breast Augmentation, Cheek Augmentation with Implants, Chin Augmentation with Implants, Lip Augmentation, Hair Transplants, Otoplasty, Liposuction, Tummy Tucks, Browlift, Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane, Radiesse, Chemical Pells, Skin Care+-and IPL treatments…there’ll all here and the international community is taking advantage of this opportunity to get Beverly Hills quality.+- If the best is here, why would anyone go anywhere else?

If you want to be happy after your plastic and cosmetic surgery, you may need to check your unrealistic expectations at the door.

This business is rife with patients that have unrealistic expectations.+- This makes them, in my opinion, poor surgical candidates.+- What’s the problem?+- Probably a lack of knowledge and a true understanding about the various plastic surgery procedures and what they can and more importantly can’t do.+- For example:+- You can’t remove inches of excess skin from an aging face without making an incision aroung the front of the ear.+- Current technology Laser, RF, etc can not tighten more than mm’s of skin and certainly nowhere near inches.+- This then is an unrealistic expectation that will do nothing more than ensure you’re unhappy when you don’t get what you thought you would with a less effective procedure.

Do your homework, seek out well trained and experienced plastic and cosmetic surgeons and then listen to what the procedures can and can’t do.+- Life is full of trade offs and plastic surgery is no different.+- There are good and bad points about every preocedure, surgery and treatment.+- Be a happy, educated consumer…be realistic from the start and you’ll be happy in the end.

Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery “Tip of the Day” from Dr. Francis R Palmer, III Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon.+-

+-Revision Rhinoplasty cases frequently require the use of ear cartilage to rebuild the nasal tip.+- Be sure to preserve this valueable asset when having Otoplasty (ears pinned).+- The ear cartilage is buried under the scalp behind the ear where it can be harvested if needed for a Revision Rhinoplasty.+- In fact, my staff is trained to ask “do you have any ear cartilage left” of all Revision Rhinoplasty inquiries by telephone or internet.

Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery “Beauty Tip of the Day” from Dr. Francis R. Palmer, Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon.” Beware the free consultation…you may be getting more than you bargained”.+- So, you want to improve your appearance.+- Ok, so you’ve decide that Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery or some non-invasive treatment like Botox, Restylane, Radiesse or IPL might be the ticket…so you seek some consultations with Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons in Beverly Hills and elsewhere.+- Fair enough, so far.

+-Now during your research, which includes asking friends, family and surfing the web…you book some consults…some are free and others are not.+- Hum, why on earth would that be?+- Let’s take a look and logically assess the situation.+- Now while I understand your desire to get something for nothing…you must admit… that scenario rarely works out well.+- There’s always a catch.+- Well guess what, free Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery consults are no different and here’s why.

1. Beverly Hills has high rent, high overhead and the Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon’s staff make real salaries.+- Does that surprise anyone?+- Good, let’s continue.

2. Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons make money from performing Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery procedures and or treatments.+- Once again, this shouldn’t surprise anyone.

3. If the Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon does not charge you for his/her time to consult with you…they are losing money for giving you their time.

4. No business can sustain itself by losing money…therefore, they MUST sell you something while you are there.+- Am I getting through yet?+- What could they possibly try and sell you?+- Plastic Surgery, Non INvasive Procedures, products and related services that you may not need, or want.

5. Where do you really believe that you have a better chance of getting an honest unbiased opinion about what Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Procedures and/or treatments are best for you….with a Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon who charges for his time or one that uses it as a loss leader hoping to sell you soemthing, anything once you are in their office.+- Don’t believe that high pressure sales can’t exist in the Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery business?+- Of course it can and does.

My advice to you as a consumer of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery:

1. Buyer Beware…do your research about+-the aesthetics of beauty.+- Read my “Palmer Beauty Principles” and my “What’s Your Number” concept and learn what you need to know about how you could become more youthful and/or attractive.

2. Be realistic about paying for Plastic Surgery Consults.+- The very best Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons, and you should only be interested in them doing your surgery or treatment…after all you only have 1 face and body, in Beverly Hills and elsewhere do indeeed charge hundreds of dollars for a thorough evaluation of you an examination and specific recommendations.+- If you want to shop surgeons…pony up the bucks to do it the right way or visit fewer surgeons.

3. Be even more realisitic about the costs of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery or treatments.+- The cheap are victims+-of all sorts of scams from fake Botox (killed people in California and Florida) to having sub-par surgery in wierd places under less than ideal circumstances (surgery in apartments, hotels)…by less than the most experienced Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons…many times with fatal or+-disaterous results.+- Experienced Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeons do not steeply discount their surgeries or services and you wishing, hoping+-and searching for a miracle bargain price won’t make it so.+- Get real…pay a good price for your procedure/surgery or save up for it until you can.+- You will be much better off…in the long run.

Just received this e-mail and wanted to pass on this information that you should know about scars…of any kind.+- Please remember that your body may+-heal differently and that you should always follow the advice of your Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon when it comes to post-op healing and scar management.+- Nonetheless, I think this is still good information for those thinking about Facelifts, Mini Lifts, Tummy Tuck, Breast Augmentation, Blepharoplasty, Browlift, Chin Augmentation, Lip Augmentation, Otoplasty+-or even Rhinoplasty.+- Please read below….Dr. Francis R. Palmer, III

+-I am a surgical nurse with a background in physiology and a special personal interest in scars and healing.+-This is a definite science and patients would be helped if they understood it.
+-
Scars are too much collagen. Normal scar formation involves a balance between collagen and collagenase activity. Many things can help swing the balance favorably.
+-
First… what doesn’t? Mederma is onion extract. Any product that claims to raise sunken scars and sink raised scars should be suspect just from a common sense standpoint! No study shows any clinical benefit. Dr. Mustoe of Northwestern studied this and published it in the Plastic Surgery Journal. The bad thing here is that people who use this think that nothing will help scars. Not true!
+-
What does raise collagenase activity and melt scar tissue? Silicone, cortisone, pressure and occlusion.
+-
Without a doubt, Silicone sheets like Cica Care work if people would use them. The problem here is that they are hard to use and draw attention.
+-
Silicone gels like Scarfade and Kelocote work but are a bit messy.
+-
Cordran Tape works but falls off and also draws attention.
+-
Vitamin E is controversial but a special type of vitamin E has been shown to slow collagenesis preventing scar buildup in forming scars.
+-
The most popular treatment among plastic surgeons in my research is a Mentor Corporation product called Scarguard. This is silicone, cortisone and vitamin E in a fast drying+- liquid like nail polish. It has been shown to raise collagenase activity tremendously in published studies. It is also in some drug stores.
+-
If a person is trying to prevent scars after surgery or has a raised scar that is old, these products should be recommended. They work!!! This advice would really help your patients!
+-
Sincerely
+-
Heidi
