OK, I know this sounds obvious but you have to admit that there are plenty of plastic surgery disasters and articles with photos that have shown people including celebrities that had plastic & cosmetic surgery procedures and look worse after the fact…not better. Their Numbers went down and in some cases way…way down.

So, what’s the deal…you ask. Simple, in my 20 years experience as a Beverly Hills Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon, I have learned to identify the most aesthetically important features of the face and body.

This is not taught to medical students or plastic & cosmetic surgeons in training as counter-intuitive as that sounds. The “Celebrity Lift” continues to gain popularity because of what it isn’t.  It isn’t a large incision like the traditional Face Lift Surgeries.  It isn’t the large amount of tissue dissection that occurs with traditional Face Lifts or some of the so-called non-invasive mini lifts that go through incisions inside the mouth and scalp dissecting the entire midface off the facial bones which is a very large dissection indeed.  It isn’t the swelling, bruising and discomfort that many other types of face lifts and Mini face lifts can create.  No, on the contrary,  The “Celebrity Lift” is designed to have limited incisions, limited but highly focused and effective tissue dissection (including the muscle layer) and because of these two factors, the “Celebrity Lift” has a very rapid recovery.  Many of our patients fly home to New York, Chicago, Miami, Houston, Dallas, Sand Diego or to Milan, Florence, Lndon, Paris, Istanbul, Dubai, and all over the world in a matter of days…not weeks.

While the writers were off  during the recent strike, the celebrities were out getting some nips and tucks.  During our 20 years in practice here in Beverly Hills, it’s become clear that the Celebrities get their plastic surgery during whatever down time comes along.  This may mean a Rhinoplasty<Blepharoplasty, Lip Augmentation or Cheek/Chin augmentation (with Cheek and or Chin Implants or Radiesse Injections) during a show’s hiatus or a Facelift (like our 90 minute “Celebrity Lift”) between projects.  Why not, we want our celebs to be beatiful.  Beauty doesn’t just happen, it must be maintained.

If you want to be happy after your plastic and cosmetic surgery, you may need to check your unrealistic expectations at the door.

This business is rife with patients that have unrealistic expectations.  This makes them, in my opinion, poor surgical candidates.  What’s the problem?  Probably a lack of knowledge and a true understanding about the various plastic surgery procedures and what they can and more importantly can’t do.  For example:  You can’t remove inches of excess skin from an aging face without making an incision aroung the front of the ear.  Current technology Laser, RF, etc can not tighten more than mm’s of skin and certainly nowhere near inches.  This then is an unrealistic expectation that will do nothing more than ensure you’re unhappy when you don’t get what you thought you would with a less effective procedure.

Do your homework, seek out well trained and experienced plastic and cosmetic surgeons and then listen to what the procedures can and can’t do.  Life is full of trade offs and plastic surgery is no different.  There are good and bad points about every preocedure, surgery and treatment.  Be a happy, educated consumer…be realistic from the start and you’ll be happy in the end.

10 ways to look fabulous this Holiday Season.

The holidays are fast approaching and very soon you’ll be at family gatherings, office parties and other social functions where you’ll want to look your very best. Here are 10 sure fired ways to wow them this holiday season.

If you have sagging skin of the face and neck but can’t take 2-3 weeks off work to recover or aren’t interested in an extensive face lift and neck lift taking upwards of 4-6 hours of surgery time and anesthesia…the Minimal incision face and neck lift may be just the thing.
