Cheek Augmentation with Cheek Implants and Radiesse: Part One.

It has come to my attention that patients seeking Cheek Augmentation might have some confusion about this Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Procedure.  Let’s discuss Cheek Augmentation in general.  Cheek Augmentation is a Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Procedure that is used to literally change the facial architecture of the Cheeks.  Why?  Simply because the existing Cheek architecture does not give the face the most aesthetically pleasing appearance.

The Cheeks may appear flat, markedly asymmetric or off center.  The latter is a marked asymmetry within a cheek itself that shows as a high point typically towards the outer areas of the cheek bone while the rest of the cheek is flat or concave.  You may ask, so what?  What’s so important about the cheeks?  Good question, here’s the answer.

It turns out from my “Palmer Beauty principles” ( http://www.drfpalmer.com/palmer-beauty-principles.html ) that the shape and size of cheeks account for a whopping 75% of what makes a face appear young, old, male, female, attractive or less so.  The Cheeks are the absolute #1 beauty feature, of the face, in determining how attractive you are….for comarison, the eyes are #2 at 10%.  This makes the cheeks something quite important and something that’s worth getting to look as close to the ideal size and shape as possible…and that’s where Cheek Augmentation ( http://www.drfpalmer.com/CheekImplants.html ) comes in.

Be sure to have a thorough understanding of the facial aesthetics when seeking Chin Augmentation with radiesse or Chin Implants as well.

  1. I believe this. I think the cheeks are what makes the face attractive. People get upset over the nose, lips, and other features when they are probably really complaining about the midface, but they don’t even know it.

  2. I’m glad you agree, Lynn. The more people I can get to come to this realizatioin, the better. You can’t believe the amount of misunderstanding that exists in people’s minds over beauty and the role of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery and beauty enhancement procedures despite all the media coverage. What people really need to know is what makes, or can make, them more attractive. My Palmer Beauty Principles explain this in great detail. You can use them to apply makeup, wear the right type of clothing and yes, even get the right type of Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Procedure. What’s the right procedure, you ask? Why, the one that’s going to make you the most attractive, of course.

  3. I would like to read your book when it comes out.

  4. Dr Palmer since we are on the subject, what is your preference for cheek implant? silicone or medpor (porex)? The reason I ask is because I’ve read medpor are better when in and feel more like bone and more natural however they are much harder to remove as cells grow into them.
Although I do have faith in the surgeon I have selected (but not booked yet) I do not want something that cannot be removed?

What is your view on medpor, can they be removed?
    Thank you

  5. Hey Sharon,

Please stop and reconsider getting those Medpore Cheek Implants. I recently had several patients that were very unhappy with medpore and are asking me to exchange them for Silastic cheek implants, which I much prefer. Medpore incorporates tissue and can be very difficult to remove. Silastic, on the hand, comes out very easilly and I believe Silastic feels better than Medpore which can feel to hard inside the cheek tissues. I have used Silastic Cheek Implants for over 16 years with fantastic resukts and I will not use Medpore or Gortex material Cheek or Chin Implants because I feel that Silastic is superior in all aspects…not the least of which is the actual aesthetic shape of the Cheek Implant itself. I hope this helps.
