This is what the international press has to say about Dr. Palmer, Recently voted "One of the Worlds Best" Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons
, and his ground breaking beauty aesthetic principles. Relying on his artistic vision, insight and years of studying the face Dr. Palmer has revolutionized facial aesthetics with his trademarked techniques. Dr. Palmer has defined beauty and identified its key components-a topic of his upcoming book on beauty and plastic surgery.
Dr. Palmers research into human beauty has identified the cheeks as the aesthetic focal point of the face. The cheeks not the eyes, as many have previously stated, are responsible for the vast majority of what makes a face appear beautiful, feminine, masculine, youthful or aged. Dr. Palmer calls the cheeks the beauty "focal" or "trigger" point of the face.
Simply put the cheeks are the most important feature when it comes to facial beauty!
Indications
Men and women have vastly different ideal beauty shapes when it comes to their cheeks. Women look best with full round cheeks that appear soft and feminine. Men, on the other hand, are ideally suited for cheeks that are short and narrow. This gives the face an overall chiseled or angular appearance that is perceived as ruggedly masculine. Unfortunately, the shape of our cheeks change with age as the amount of soft tissue over the bone decreases shifting downward toward the corner of the nose and mouth.
To analyze whether you have ideally shaped cheeks,
follow this simple maneuver invented by Dr. Palmer for use during patient consultations. Look forward into a mirror. Using your imagination draw an imaginary vertical line through the pupil of the eye down the side of your face-be sure to only use an imaginary line. Place your index finger on your face along this line up by your lower eyelid. This is the top of your cheekbone. Use your finger to follow the vertical line and you will feel the bone of your cheek. Continue to do so until you feel your finger drop off of the bone. This is the bottom of your cheekbone.
Draw a second imaginary line (horizontial) across from the nostril. For women, it is important that you feel rounded cheekbone at least to the point where these two lines intersect. If you feel your cheek below this point, your cheeks will look even more soft and feminine. Should your cheekbones end above this intersection, your face may appear relatively flat, angular and masculine.
For those lacking the ideally shaped cheeks, dont despair! You may be a candidate for Malar Augmentation or whats more commonly referred to as cheek implants. This is the permanent method of obtaining beautiful or handsome cheekbones. Believing that each face is unique; Dr. Palmer uses sound aesthetic judgement and artistic skill when analyzing your face. He then formulates a tailor made aesthetic plan that is designed to enhance your natural beauty.
"The talent to recreate natural beauty relies on ones ability to recognize beauty-identify its most important elements-and visualize the beauty potential hidden inside." "Only then can true beauty be achieved."
Dr. Palmer believes that one must possess the highest degree of artistic and aesthetic ability to properly shape the face with implants. For in an area that is so crucial to facial beauty, there can be little room for error. The wrong shape-the wrong size can literally spell the difference between an exquisite result and one that is less-than desirable.
Procedure
There are several methods for the placement of cheek implants. The method of placement, although important, is far less critical than the size and shape of the implants themselves. Once Dr. Palmer determines the ideal size and shape of the implant, the tissues are lifted away from the cheekbone. The implant, once properly positioned, sits atop the bone and is quite secure. Specialized external tape further ensures the position of the implant. Taping is generally used for the first 7-10 days and these implants are tolerated extremely well. The procedure typically takes less than 1 hour and is frequently performed with other procedures such as a Facial Contour® facelift, Blepharoplasty or other cosmetic procedure.
Recovery
The patient is encouraged to eat a soft diet and avoid strenuous activity for the first week. There is usually only minimal swelling, bruising and discomfort-although it may take several weeks before the final results are evident.
